Be a part of the Netball Revolution!

It’s a busy time at Wokingham Junior Netball Club – and everyone is welcome to join in the fun!

The Club’s Junior Summer Camp is open during the Summer Holidays from Tuesday August 30^th to Thursday September 1^st.

This is an opportunity for boys and girls aged between 8 and 15 and of any ability to try their hand at this exciting and dynamic sport.  There are two sessions held on each of the three days from 10.00 AM to 12.30PM and then from 1.00PM to 3.30PM and are run by qualified coaches and experienced players from this Silver Cap accredited club. The sessions will include a series of fun and structured activities that will develop players’ skills and co-ordination and there will also be the chance to play matches during each session.

Experience is not necessary so if you fancy having a go, please come along.  Similarly if you have played the game before at any level and are keen to receive some experienced coaching, you are most welcome to attend.  The cost is £10.00 per session or £15.00 per day.  For more details call Pat Harper on 0118 978 5500.

If this activity has not yet whetted your appetite to get involved, several of the Club’s teams recently took part in a Netball tournament at the Brean Sands Holiday Park in Somerset. 

Over the weekend of 24^th to 26^th June, four Wokingham teams from the Under 11 age group up to Under 13s participated along with 150 teams from all over the country.  The Under 11s impressed in reaching the Plate Quarter Finals but unfortunately bowed out at this stage and the Under 13s qualified for the Cup Group Stages but were eliminated before reaching the knockout round.

Fortunately the rain stayed away and the sun made a timely appearance, but the most important aspect was that a good time was had by players, parents and spectators alike, culminating in the disco on the Saturday night.

Finally the Club wishes to extend its congratulations to three of its players who have qualified for the Berkshire County Squad.  In the Under 13 age group Hannah McClay and Ella Cheney have made it into the Satellite Squad and in the Under 11 age group Abi Skinner has qualified for the Development Squad.  The club wishes these girls the very best of luck and hope that this will inspire many more players from the club to move on to bigger and better things!
